I hope i got this right ..... but don't you need 1098 pistons also ????
Is there anything else beside the crank and the pistons that you need to turn a 998 into a 1098?

Cheers Gerard

Hmmm I've seen both sorts break, so why not use the 1100 one and get the extra 100+cc.. 8)
For a ROAD car, there's no substitute for cubic inches...

Yes but, if you put the 1098 crank and pistons in the 998 block, well, you'd have to go look at the 'Power Tuning the 1098' thread now wouldn't you??

I've personally seen 1098s stand up to a lot of abuse, even stock ones. The problem I usually see isn't crank wear but the bores wear more due to the long stroke. No matter how much you adjust the tappets you can't get rid of piston slap

Get onto any British mini forum or pick up a magazine.
They don't have 1100 engines there, so it's powertuned 998s all the way. :D

What has adjusting the tappets got to do with piston slap?
I thought piston slap was the uneven wear in the bore causing excess movement of the piston inside the bore. :?

What sort of extractors would u guys recommend for a 998, i just bought one and im looking to give it a lil more kick, but trying not to swap cranks or stuff like that over? What will adding maybe 3:1 extractors and a new exhaust do for it, would it be worth it? Apart from switching cranks over, are there any other mods you would recommened, im currently running a single SU carby, and am pretty sure the rest is still standard!
