Heya All

I may get asked to get these pulled from Youtube (seeing as I haven't sought out express approval), but I'm posting them as some might find them of use.

The video these clips come are from a set of talks arranged by GPD Automotive in the early 90's when Viz came to Oz. Pretty interesting video in which you get some insight into the amazing amount of time Viz must have spent studying engines over the years. I found the sections on 30 degree valve seats and head mods quite interesting. The full video is almost 2 hours so it will take me a while for me to get all the bits onto youtube.

If anyone from GPD is reading here and wants them pulled or whatever, please contact me, they will be removed no gripe.

cheers, Jacob

 sure, as long as you're comparing "brake specific air consumption"

Here's part 4.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCIwAJboZuE

Some interesting stuff about choosing exhaust/intake valve ratios. Makes you think more about how it all works, rather than just looking at numbers.

Still heaps more to go... if folks want?

cheers

Jacob

I'm finding it very interesting. Please keep uploading if you have the time.

I went along to one of these talks, I have the book and my notes somewhere! I got him to sign my "how to modify your mini", a very clever man.

OTT: David Vizard and Keith Calver amongst others have visited Graham Russell on their visits to Australia. They sat in a maroon coloured vynl chair that used to inhabit his tea room near the door. This chair was chucked out a few years back and I was like: "You can't throw out that chair?!? mini royalty has had their butt on that chair!!

Well it's gone to chair heaven... sorry I didn't save it.

Oh & hey good stuff Jacob, & i don`t think Graham (from GPD) would mind cause posting the vids,,, i`m pretty sure they have packed up & gone beck to New-Zealand & also Sadly Steve Young passed away from a battle with Cancer a little while ago,,, so i don`t expect any issue with showing the videos

GR should have kept that chair, I bet it could have been raffled at some mini show - "The Throne of mini tuners"

Did not know Graham had gone back to NZ - he modded my 295 head over 10 years ago (still the one I have now) and he gave me this Viz video then.

I did know of Steve's passing, a great shame, he was quite an inspiration for me as a young mini owner in the early 90's, I remember seeing Mongrel being driven to work while I was waiting for the train to school. Then a few years later chatting to him at Echo Valley, again when he was running Mongrel.

Here's part 5, Mostly about Octane & fuel boosters, probably more relevant now than it was back when it was recorded! (well in terms of Oz fuel anyway)

cheers

Jacob

Camshafts & valve-trains. A bit about scatter cams and oversize lifters.

cheers

Thanks for posting this stuff Jacob, is very interesting.

I met and chatted with Vizard at GR's in '95 when he was out here. Graham was grinding a cam for me and invited me back the following Monday when Vizard was going to be there. One of those meetings we have that we don't forget.
