I scanned these photos in and thought I would share them with you :D

Many of my fond memories of being a young lad are ones by the race track. Amazing how things were different decades ago, my father and I would go down race events and he would race while I found my way around the track at the age of 5-6 talking to marshals in wondering the pits.
Sometimes we would meet people there or from the same club and they would look after me while Dad raced for the day. Enjoyable times and a fond sense of community among race clubs in those days. Can't pass any comments for these days?

White mini with 1100 rally spec motor, I think this kept them in lower class??

My first car that we rebuild, we ended up playing around with a turbo on this but never followed it through enough to get good power out of it.

My brothers rebuilt van; he won a trophy of some sort at a Morris car show he attended.

Terrific. A mate at work was copying some old home video footage onto DVD on a computer at work the other day. As I walked past I saw some minis racing. His dad had been to Bathurst and filmed it. I think it was 1975. I got a copy so will have to ask him if I can post it on here. great photos, thanks.

There have been some great period photos posted here on Ausmini.
Maybe they could be categorized and a gallery started.
Wombats photo could be the poster shot for the gallery. :D

Found another photo of my fathers Cooper S today and took a digital photo.

I wonder what the chances are of identifying this car??? Worth a try, would be pretty cool if some one here owned it, or some one here new the owner of the car :D

Car specs as far as I know,

- Ex police Cooper S
- Plates at the time JYE.077
- Was bought with front smashed, donner car was used to braze new wings on and new front.
- Engine bored out to 1310
- 45mm webber
- Grey or green interior
- When he bought it it had a CB fitted to the roof, it was removed and cut outs patched up. Hood lining was painted black when he bought it also.
- Owned roughly between 1976 and 1984?
- Car lived in blue mountains NSW (Hazelbrook, Blaxland & Mount Riverview)
- Was sold to a fellow in Mt Druit early 80's

You never know :?:

I grew up in the mid mountains but I can't remember that car. But there were a lot of them around in them days.

I got my Cooper S in Lawson in 81.

The shot with the orange Volvo I thought looked like Mt Riverview?

My brother had an identical orange volvo for a while and also lives in Mt Riverview (Marshall Rd), possibly back at that time too. What do you remember about where your family got that car from?

It was traded in at Kerry's motors in valley heights about 1982. My father says he used to see it around the mountains afterwards but wasn't sure where it lived. He thinks it might have belonged afterward to a school teacher???
