My mates VR just blew its powersteering pump and I'm not sure where to start on it, if there's anyone out this way and can lend a hand we'd appreciate it.. shoot me a pm if yyou're able..
Cheers in advance.

Cut the belts to it and drive it on no powersteering. At least that way its semi driveable.
I did that on the old falcon ute, until I replaced the pump.

I don't recommend cutting the belt and driving it home, as the 1 belt runs everything, water pump and alt etc.

Is it just out of oil or did something catastrophic happen?

if it's blown completely there isn't much you can do with it. either have to put up with the noise it makes and keep checking the oil or try finding a smaller belt and not use it till you can replace it. be aware though that if you keep driving it and it;s not retaining oil then you risk it catching fire. Is it a v8 or v6?

Sorry guys, been a rather fun filled afternoon, the pump shat itself, we got a new one, had a lot of piss farting around, lost one of the screws for the res but managed to find one from a neighbour, rather generous really, also poped out with the 16mm spanner that's gone walk abouts... Finally got everything sorted until the pully bolts wouldn't take.............. Drove back down to the supplier, some to fit... Got back and done.. big thanks to minidna for the how to.. now to sort out the nice red chrispy right shoulder and arm... All sorted just in time for drinky time..

That wasn't you parked by the side of the freeway (inbound) this arv was it? I did see a pair of Commodores stopped near Werribee as I was returning from the You Yangs.
