Welcome mate. Do you have any history or photos of the car to share with us?

Had a search through the site to see if I can find out what the difference is between a uk mini, and an Aus one, in my case a 1275 S and can't find a lot.
Saying that I am an old fart that's not very good at this ! History wise, I had five S's in the seventies one 1071 and four 1275. But as you can imagine with the passage of time I am fairly new compared to you guys.
So can anyone tell me what if any differences there is between an Aus S and a uk one.
Cheers Stan.

Welcome Stan. :)

First thing to confirm is whether your car is Australian Mark 1 or 2 as a build year of 1968 would make it a Mark 1. The identifiers are listed at the beginning of the respective registers. Once you've confirmed that Ausmini members would be happy to go through what's different between UK and Oz built cars.

The first big difference is less rust in the Aussie cars

Hello,
Welcome to Ausmini. We don't get members from that far away often.
People on here are quite happy to help you with whatever type of Ozzy mini you have.
There was an article in MiniWorld Magazine May, 2013 about "Boris from Down Under" listing many of the differences for our MkII Ss. I don't know how easy it is for you to find that article but it covers most of the obvious issues well.
Lang may ya lum reek!
Bill

Guys thanks for the welcome, and to Bill I think you may have just mentioned the car that I have just bought, IE. Boris ! As I said above I don't have the car home yet and all the history is with it apart from what the previous owner has emailed me including a copy of the article in the mini world mag.
Stan.

That's him indeed, I normally refer to a car as a her, but methinks in boris's case it will need to be a him.
Oh and, Awoody, I'll bet you were visiting relations !

Cool. Two of the best things in the world are now in Orkney - Highalnd Park whisky and Aussie Cooper S.

Stan, hope you don't mind this...but I have a friend who lived in Caithness...

Do you have to virtually hibernate in the winter due to the snow etc? Hunt for deer etc smoke fish and stock up on provisions and fuel? Limited movement (snowshoes and over the snow vehicles?)

Cheers, Mick

[Reason for asking: Mainland is likely to have heavier deposits of snow because it will fall and then build up but Orkneys myriad of islands may offer some sort of protection?]
