sounds like you probly have a uni joint problem more than an engine problem

check it out, you may not "have" to spend all that money straight away

& A+ engines are crap compared to our Aussie 1275 engines

sooo many A+ engines are sleaved from the factory & some that weren`t,, should have been, for pourosity problems in the blocks,,,I`m not a big fan of the A+ engine,,,They`re only "ok" simply because our aussie 1275 engines are getting very thin on the ground (Hard to find) but!!! the A+ gearboxes are definately a quieter & much improved upon option compared to the early gearboxes...much bigger shafts & bearings & a more quieter gear cut on the teeth of the gears.

& i`d say the price you`re talking about this "Conversion" won`t be with labour fitting the entire package,,,& then you`d also need 12" wheels or bigger to fit over the 8.4" discs that they come with...i`d do more homework if i were you

I was buying complete 1275 A+ power units & disc brake assys from England for the last few years & i was selling them as a package for $2000,,,not now tho,,,they are more like $3000 for that same package.

Yeah i know the power will drop a little but it will be better than what iv'e got at the moment and i can always modify it.

You cannot get a lot more power out of the efi motors as they are fuel restricted. But they are much nicer to drive, easier to maintane and more economical. The only problem in Oz is the long distances between the test equipment.

$3500-4000 for a Rover 1275 SPi front cut at the most. For 5 grand, you will want it to be installed aswell. And yes I know what it costs - cos I just bought one, after a long search

A mate has done this conversion on a UK MkIII shell. It's a great car, quiet and economical with a decent turn of speed. He travels long distances in his Mini, and finds it a LOT more comfortable and quieter than his Mk1 Cooper S.

He has had the head slightly ported and added a set of higher ratio roller rockers. The stock computer is working fine with these minor mods. But any more than that, and he will probably need aftermarket EFi.
