Can you retrofit an A+ 65D to an early A series?

Hi, ignition sytems always get some interesting replies, some biased, some non factual, some because thats what we have always done.

Points systems work fine for a lot of people, and if they meet all your expectations, then stick with them

People often claim electronics are unreliable, but so too are head gaskets, wheel bearings, etc etc.

the classic car we all love is a high maintenance car by todays standards , and always has been.

electronics are generally very reliable, and if they are going to fail, its often very early in their life.

The points I will make about electronic dissies are:

With very very few exceptions, they are all made in China, or made from components sourced in china. This is not a China bashing, but pointing out that they totally dominate the world market.

A complete kit of matched products, dissy, coil, leads and good warranty and backup is good, as we are a long way away from overseas backup or support

Add on modules are only a cheaper way of being electronic, and suffer from worn dissies, poor advance curves totally unsuited for ULP

All modules retard timing, its obvious sometimes, sometimes not.

Poor earths, and voltage spikes will damage electronics

In australia, if you wish to buy a proper matched kit locally produced you have Performance Ignition who sell mostly bosch products, again with the usual source of base products, and a quiet achiever , ourselves, Peak Ignition in Melbourne also . Our distributors are built by the original electronic dissy guru from Perf Ign, and who also created Ice Ignition. We spend 5 - 7 hours per distributor upgrading its performance and reliability, tailor making a curve , supplying a hybrid coil and top quality Aust made induction plug leads to give value.
Our full kit is similar price to a single imported dissy. Our sales are mostly word of mouth from satisfied customers, but we do hope to have a web store soon.
We do have over 200 satisfied customers, and I believe over 40% of the group N historic race field, with top 4 minis at the last 3 major race meetings
