hey all, I've got this little deluxe that I'm fixing up to sell, and the more I look at it, the more I think it's a bit of a rarity - it's definitely a deluxe, 100% sure it's not an 850 or anything else...

what's got me is that it has a spare wheel retainer in the boot floor (see pic below) and there are no bash plates covering the hydro lines, and no screw holes/captive nuts where the plates would have been fitted.... the only (somewhat dubious of course) dateI've found is on the wiper motor, being 11/64 - Deluxes were launched in March '65, so I'd say this car is one of the earliest production deluxes in '65 - the car number on the firewall is 24300. Does anyone have a similar vintage deluxe with similar features?

I have a 66 deluxe body #yma2s2 s/n 23405
stamped on firewall and 22917 stamped on radiator cowl.
I don't have the bracket for the spare wheel.
Mine is toga white as per data plate on firewall
and this colour only came out in 65/66.
Check the following colour charts for your colour..

Our Barney was a `65-66 Deluxe, he has the spare wheel clamp and no trays in floor for the pipes. These early Deluxes & S's just had the pipes clipped to the floor, with little scuff plates at front & rear.

ah hah.... this one was toga white too, gonna respray it in that - given your number is that early (700 earlier than mine), and Docs car with the spare wheel retainer, I guess it is a '66 then - ho hum... nothing special

yours is a pre-release one then - I reckon these deluxes need to be preserved a bit, there aren't that many around now cos they all get turned into race cars and S replicas (not that there's anything wrong with that  )
