Hi, my Mk II 850 makes a crunchie noise when you drive out of a T junction or similar, a bit like a car with rooted CVs. It's got the UJs which have 2 offset U-clamps, so not pot joints. It sounds horrible and not particularly healthy. I had it up on ramps and had a peek - but had no idea what I should be looking for, or even if the UJs are at fault.

The sound comes when the wheels turn on anything more than half-lock, and only when the wheels turn, so I'm thinking it's the UJs. Are they a rare item to replace, if they are stuffed?

When you turn the wheels the inner U/J (of whatever type) hardly moves. I reckon it's in a C/V, or it's a front hub bearing..
