Someone here reckoned $90 was a good price for that..

I just flushed my old spare one and put $6 worth of `Loctite' brand rad cleaner thru it. It's clean as a whistle.. working fine- that's good stuff!

Good to know the radiator guy!!

Flush the cooling system before doing the radiator as all the crap that comes out will finish up in the radiator. No good putting rubbish into a clean radiator. Another thing that happens with these motors is the internal transfer holes between block and head close up and choke the water flow. The fins on mine were choked with oil and dirt and no air was going through the fins.

Thanks guys - that is about what I was expecting but I was told by a local Mini expert that the guy where he gets his done will charge around $200 for a "rebuild"

I know about gunk in the block - I drained the system not long after I bought the car as I knew it would be standing a while. left all the drain points open but when I pulled the radiator out then was still water in it. The outlet from the pump was blocked solid with a lump of jelly that came out like the biggest gooby youv'e ever seen followed by the remainder of the coolent - hate to think what the insides of the block are like

I know and I said that but the same guy said that they are Tiawanese rubbish and for Queensland run hotter than the original 850's. He said the later Australian built ones had overcome the overheating problem as they have more fins per inch and are more efficient but the new imports must be being built to the original 850 specks.

Next time I'm down at Karcraft I'll measure the gills/inch. Original 850 were 12, Oz S and later were 16.
I was under the impression these were UK made, like his 2 & 4 core are.
