Like I said in that thread, I prefer cutting the panel, grinding the seam, and twisting off whats left.
First the cutting off of the panel with the angry grinder. You can still see the part of the panel attached at the seam:
Then some grinding and twisting.
Look at the bottom of the panel in this shot. You can see the little dot of the spot welds. But the panel is nice and smooth.
Now some people recommend drilling the spot welds, but depending on the state of the seam it can be time consuming hard to get the holes spot on, leading to a mess.
I'd prefer a clean panel and drilling some holes later for the plug welds.
