I don't know what made me so nervous, but rego went nice and easy today. No problems at all. He was admiring the new bling rocker cover  (A neat new trick to throw them off  Blind them with bling!)

Anyway so Lillee is on the road for another year!!! JOY!

Also since i found out that Lillee is a K and comes with a 1098 as standard (rather than being a deluxe and having a "Late model engine" as an accessory) I got Shannons to change the insurance for Lillee from "Modified" to "Standard". Save like $9 a month! :D

It's been a good week for her 8)

Um... as it's not a standard K now (40DHLA carb, 295 head, cam, zorst, shall I go on??) mebbe you should change it back to modified... 8)
If you prang it and they see it's modified, you are in deep doo doo..

A mate of mine used to have a crap load of braided hose on his Corona rally car to baffle the scrutineers so they did'nt look too close at his car.

Really? When I asked the guy why my car was classed as modified, he said that it was because I had larger capacity engine than the normal 998 that a deluxe is supposed to have. Since it is a K with 1100 then what makes it any different??

Does anyone who knows want to elaborate???

I'll call em tommorrow and sort it all out...

If you buy a stock 1100 Mini K, put in a bigger SU and an unleaded cylinder head to use unleaded fuel, does this make it a modified mini for insurance purposes? if not what's the difference between that and what I have done?? :?

You just need to check with them regarding their idea of `disclosure'.. I've heard some horror stories lately with other companies..

A**I once cancelled my son's Clubbie insurance ON THE SPOT because it had a sports muffler with chrome tip, and we declared it!
Rest of car was bog standard including peashooter ex pipe. What a wank.

unleaded has nothing to do with being modified. It is the Wopping great big dellorto that would make it modified. I think you will find that the manifolds won't be an issue as almost all mini's have after market stuff on them. But theat dellorto... makes it modified. sorry!

Cheers

If its a mini K it came from the factory with a 1100 motor, so by law if it still has the 1100 engine it can't be classed as modified, you can argue that the unleaded head & big carb are not "performance" extras,

Well I called Shannons today, they said that in theory it is not modified however if I do have an accident and the inspector sees the modifications then it could become a mess to try to talk your way out of it. Pretty much for an extra $10 a month he said it's worth it...

Probably depends what model it's registered as. `Barney' is with Shannons as a Cooper S Replica. As such I believe his twin SUs and 3-1 are OK for his standard classification. They've been advised of the 1275A+ donk and S brakes.
