I've actually sooo close to convincing my sister to buy a mini :) now this is such a big revelation since she love's VW's and has always wanted one..but ahh..yes, i've done well to bring her into the mini foray...

Anyway been looking around and there is a few she's kinda interested in...

There's this one on Ebay:

Description wrote:
1973 Austin Clubman. No rust whatsoever.Undercoated and top proofed.Stainless Steel Extractors, Koni Computerised Shock Absorbers.Power Assisted (PBR) Cooper Disk Brakes, New radial tyres, Wood and Pickard Nudge Designed Bars front and rear, Stainless Steel MG Plinth Mounted Mirrors, Auto Sport Designed Driving Seat (Cost $1,200) 97,524M on clock. Genuine reading.Original log registration book.

To be fitted: CD/Radio,Smiths Large Tacho, and other instruments, History and proof of orignal purchase including original service manual. Library of service books and others on car.Genuine reason for sale. Absolute gem for a Mini Clubman enthusiast. A gem of a car of this type. Few like it around the world today. Condition is simply rare for age. NRMA agreed comprehensive insurance for a minium of $5,000.(Certificate available).Never failed a rego: check.

So there was this one on Ebay and I get her to send a few questions off to the guy...and she get's this response haha..

Ebay Gent wrote:
No I do not have more pictures. The tyres are Korean, that is all you can get for Minis now. I said they were new, they are new in the sense that I may have used them to the Garage to get rego check that is all.

The tread is as you would get from a new tyre. The paint work is the
same as Wadham Stringer Racing colours. The bonnet is hand painted,
the red white and blue sides are some sort of plastic, put on by panel
beater. In a prang? I am a an HGV class1 Driver UK. 50 years
experience, and a membe of MIAM, and British Institute of driving.
Accident free record for over 50 odd years. Good drivers do not get in
prangs!

Simply put it, let me tell you the dash board fascia needs relining as
does the interior lining, hence the instruments being moved. I was
going to get it done, but decided to leave it as it is. Test drive?
That depends, I am not going to say right jump in and away you go.
Show me evidence that you can handle a Mini and we'll take it from
there!

Sorry if your on here, but i doubt it anyway cause he's at least 50-60...and before i get told off that's not old ;)

Anyway, the car seems ok and I was interested in going around if she's keen and having a look...was thinking of getting a convoy out to this blokes place to show him we can handle mini's  haha..

The ONLY thing my sister care's about is the colour and that it's fast..she wants a yellow one

Bidding starts at $3,500..she's in no rush for one, but if the right one comes up she'll take it...

Wrong on both counts Duc-

This seller sounds a bit of a know-it-all time waster to me.
- $5000 agreed value with NRMA is their standard figure for any Mini on a classic policy. If you want to have a higher value, they have to inspect it. So that means nothing at all.
- You can get a lot of different brands of tyre for Minis, not just Korean. So he's talking crap to excuse his cheap tyre choice.
- who gives a stuff about his driving history. You want to know if the car has been pranged. It could have been pranged by his wife/brother-in-law/previous owner/neighbours dog/.... Sounds like he's blowing his own trumpet, and he hasn't really answered the question.
- "Show me the evidence that you can handle a Mini?" What a load of crap, does he want to sell the car or not. Who would buy a Clubamn for $3,500+ without seeing it and driving it?

Having said sll that, $5K is probably about right if he is being truthful. The car looks great and he may just be a fussy old fart, but tread carefully.

Duc

In th UK clubmans were Austin or Morris for some time after BL took over in 69 have many pictures next time your over if you want to confirm. Clubmans were sold through Austin and Morris dealerships that sold Austin Kimberleys, 2200s, princesses metros and the like. This guy being English and a mini driver would remember Austin clubmans from their release and even though he currently owns an Australian Leyland clubman for him they will forever be Austin.

Regardless of name at time of manufacture all minis are Austins, Design code ADO 15. Austin Design Office . Motors designed and built at Austin.

A series built for Austin A30, A35 then put into Morris Minor, Austin Healy sprite MKI,II,III, MG midget MK I,II,III, mini, Metro and probably others that escape me now.

Poor old fella's just trying to sound tough.
He's probably just letting you know he won't be jerked around either.

Take a look, the car looks GREAT outwardly, and the price is reasonable.
