That car has been for sale for ages. In Seaford isn't it? $7k is certainly better than the
$12.5k he wanted some time ago.

I'd rather be in my mini than my excel or other modern plastic car.

how long do you reckon it's been for sale for?

If he was trying to sell it for $12.5grand then that's a bit cheeky seeing as he only paid 10.

It's a tough call though... i want a mini but i paid less for my cressida which has more power, quiet, comfortable and just about every electric/electronic option you could think of. I think it's the one for me but i don't think it's likely to be sold for less than 7 and that's still a lot of money.

as with what some people have said, the sad fact for buyers (GREAT for sellers) of
mini's, is that they are now getting to the stage where they are damn expensive
for what they arre. imagine 5 years ago proposing 8k for that car!!!

I think that 8k is reasonable to pay for that.

good luck

Well, I rang the guy this arvo and told him I will buy the car for 7 grand... After some deliberation he agreed (he wanted more like 7.5)... She'll be taken to Toby first thing in the morning to get the roadworthy items fixed up so hopefully sometime this week I'll be able to take her home. :D

I'll need to get the seats and exhaust changed so it's a bit safer and also a bit more neighbour and eardrum friendly. :P

Grats on getting it for 7 , not a bad buy at all. The old Cressida looks nice too, I had a Crown for a number of years, damn that was a nice reliable comfy car too (still not fun like a mini though :) ).

If the guy said he paid over 2 grand for the head he's an idiot all parts wouldn't cost more than $250 and porting polishing if done by the best around the same. Trade price for complete rebuild port and polish I've never paid more than $300.

He would be including labour for the job and labour for the instalation which he intends to pass on to you. He obviously doesn't do any of the work himself and pays through the nose.

He has only owned the car for a short time and paid way to much and now wants to pass it on at a $3000 loss WHY????

I would assume after paying $7000 for the car expect to spend another $1000 - $2000 within the first 6 months.

I hope the car works out well as for a deluxe that isn't in original nic there are lots better out there.

I hope you got a good one sorry I didn't see the post until after you bought the car I really do hope it works out well for you.

Do you mean if the roadworthy certificate states that certain items are passable now but needing attention in the near future?

It's being sold with a RWC that the seller is paying for.

Oh.....missed that bit...forget what I said unless his RWC violently disagrees with your RWC....they can...depends on how thorough and knowledgeable the inspectors are....

any major work needed can equal a bargaining chip.....

I have confidence in the RWC... The inspector is apparently renowned for his attention to detail and not being at all dodgy with his work. In many ways it's a very good thing that the seller has no idea about cars because he gets everything done by the mini specialist that he happens to live 500m away from. :D

I wasn't thinking what was on the road worthy certificate. if the car starts lights work passes brake test rubbers are ok it'll pass a RWC I was thinking mechanical problems that the previous owner knows are just around the corner gearbox, rings and bearings.

Why would you sell a car for a massive 5 thousand dollar loss, I know what would make me consider selling a car at a loss.

I hope I'm wrong and you have an exceptional car.

Steve

Poeple sell cars at a loss all the time, I lost 15k on my last car and it was still like brand new. The guy probably over payed originally, I mean I'd only pay 12k for a Cooper S or a mint GT.
