Am I correct in assuming that a commercial vehicle does not have to comply in the same way as a passenger vehicle. Is it not so that commercial vehicles can have engine changes without all the same restrictions as a passenger car? If that is so then a mini van is a commercial vehicle. I must ask the RTA what the ruling is. Does anyone know the rules, I can't find anything on the RTA site.

Still have to fit to emission requirements etc as far as I'm aware in any state. Should be VSI on engine mods on the RTA website. Can usually only put in same year motor as the vehicle or a more "modern engne" eg u can put a 2005 motor in a mini but not a1974 motor in a 2005 mini! Hope that helps! :D

I am probably wrong, but as a mini van is under a certain weight, it is classified as a passenger vehicle, Unless you register it as a Commercial. Someone with a ute was telling me about it. Don't know if that is correct but the theory is sound.

Cheers

Aaron
