i like it how everyone says...

i had a DEAD plug from brand x and i swapped it for a NEW plug from brand y and it worked fine...

the scientific method is lacking from some of yous :)

you need to compare the running of dead plugs from both companies to be fair ;)

FWIW, Champions are not made here any more, they now come from US or UK.
A few of us here bought the last of Bunnings old stock (Oz made) of N9YCs.. mine are spinning to 7500+ on the street in Ha-Ha, no problem. But for track work I do throw a set of NGK BP7ES in there.

Anton, many years ago I had problems with KLG plugs in Minis.... and found Champions better!

Well seems like if you ask 10 people about their choice of plugs you will get 10 different answers

I do this: When I need plugs, whichever is on sale I buy. N9YCs, BP6ES, W7DC all the same to me cept the price

This is not about reliability but a story on performance. We wanted to know which plug performed best a gave the hightest voltage so i got every plug brand I could think of and tested them all on a scope. We rejected Champions straight away, Bosch were next. NGK, Nippondenso and the OEM plugs came out on top near equal to each other. Most OEM plugs at that time were ND and they always worked well. By OEM I mean Autolite Honda etc. We then made it a policy to use Champion plugs in all the cars we serviced as we knew they would need replacing earlier. We used ND in all our personal cars as they lasted longer and performed better.

I think a lot of this trouble is fuel fouling due to cold running plugs- people fit the so-called `recommended grade' of plugs to motors that often have been modded over the years, are running newer fuels and in traffic that's often slower than yesteryear.
Conventional wisdom (plug books) says fit an N9Y(C) or equivalent to evey A series out there. But, way back then, these plugs were confined to the Cooper S and later the other 1275s. Everything else got an N5.... (a standard reach plug, not projected nose).
My point here is people wonder why the N9Ys etc foul up in slow city driving, then they go fit another the same.
I have a friend with a 1220 Morrie and twin HS2s that does this all the time.
Maybe, for this sort of use, they should consider a hotter plug- N11Y or N12Y or equivalents in NGK-Bosch etc.

BTW GR agrees, he reckons N9Ys are too cold for a roadie motor running a sidedraft Weber....

Hotter plugs will also suit cars that aren't driven much.
