my symptoms were crunching into gears, i needed to pump the clutch to get pressure,
but this doesnt really sound like your prob so i will back into my corner now

Did you put a new oil seal in when doing the motor?

Sorry to ask put if your having problems with clutch drag and haven't narrowed it down to anything specific could it be oil on the clutch plate?

yea put a new oil seal in....good tip though.

Would it run out the drain hole in the flywheel housing if it was leaking?

yes you would have oil drip out of the bottom of the housing. Having just replaced one.

But told some new ones have a habit of leaking straight away.

Anton, are these M/C's replacements for dual circuit or only single circuit master cylinders?
Apparently my current M/C bore is 0.7", dual circuit.

Jill I have no idea about that super modern dual circuit Mini setup.

These are really for single circuit brakes. I don't think you can buy new ones of your type. You might have to convert back to the old school type

I was talking to my dad last night about your clutch drama as he changed a lot of them in the late 60's early 70's. He said that some times the spline on the clutch plate does not slide all that well on the spline on the primary gear. Therefor when then clutch is disengaged it is still draging on the flywheel. What he used to do is pull the clutch out and put a fine film of hi temp grease on the spline then reassamble. 99% of the time this fixed the problem.
Hope this may help.
Pete
