TCW...A reply from one Mexican connection is as follows:
I have not followed the debate but the rules for Regularity were changed a year or so ago to allow sedand to compete. At the Phillip Island Historic meeting we on run Regularity event for Pre War car and Post War cars. The Post War cars are generally restricted to Group S and some invited car that fit the era and compteing cars. Strangley enough you could compete in a genuine Shelby 350 GT Mustang because they were run as sports cars (Group S) but you cant run any other Mustang. The reason we only allow these cars is is we already have full fields - 60 cars can complete, and we dont have any more time in the program to put on extra events.
The only Regularity Event I know off that is run for sedans, and in particular MINIS is conducted at the 5th Round of the Victorian State Circuit Racing Championships on the 3rd and 4th of September. The Victorian Mini Club run this race meeting and I put on a 20 minute Regularity Trial on Saturday and Sunday. The event is only open to officials of the meeting (and not those in senior positions) Entry is free. The deal is if you come and work as an official at the race meeting you get the Regularity for free. We try to restrict it to Minis but some times we have to let other vehicle in. Not all the flag marshalls and scrutineers have Minis.
