Does anybody know where I can get a fitted, waterprood car cover for a Mini? I remember that at Motorex there was a stand selling this kind of product, but I've lost the brochure :(

I'm looking for something that will remain tied down and that can be stuffed into the boot when driving.

Cheers,

good luck getting into the boot while driving!

I've just got a small car cover from kmart, the one I've got isn't completely waterproof but there were more expensive ones that were.

to be honest all the perfectly fitted ones i have ever seen have been dust covers and not really waterproof. The one i bought was a generic small car cover from big w. has hold down straps and a soft material breatheble insert on the inside so it doesn't scratch that paint. I used them all the time until recently when i got a shed to put the cars in. Would be interested to see if you can get a fitted one for a mini that IS water proof though.

cheers

Aaron

The people that were at Motorex had a range of different materials that they used for their custom cover, however their waterproof stuff was made out of some hi-tech fabric, and you could even throw it into the washing machine to clean it. Bet the mother / wife would lurve that!
If I remember correctly their stand was right opposite the POR-15 stand.

Gave up on Google, went over to Yahoo and bingo.

These aren't the ones I was thinking of though, the guys at motorex were in the Padstow / East Hills area if I remember correctly.

Called Covercraft today and whilst the owner wasn't there, this is what I found out;

They basically sell car covers for indoors or outdoor use. They get their stuff custom made in the USA (all done via CAD), and it takes around 3 weeks for delivery from placement of order. All their covers come with a 4 year guarantee.

For outdoor covers, they have 2 fabrics to choose from (you can choose your colour);

1) Noah. Fabric made up of 4 layers, 1st one that is in contact with the car is a soft layer, 2nd is a dust layer, 3rd water proof, 4th is a UV layer. Isn't machine washable, and costs approximately $300 for a mini.

2) Weathershield. Top of the range material, very thin, and is machine washable. Approx $400 for mini.

Since everything gets shipped over from the States, the guy said that they could look at group discount as it would lower his shipping costs. I'm looking at placing an order last week of October, so if you are interested PM me.

I bougt the smallest water proof one from Auto Barn and took it to my Upholsterer and he cut it down to fit the Mini like a sock. It has straps with clip on buckles that tie it up under the car. Out of the bits he cut off he even made me pockets sticking out the side, for the M3 mirrors that I have on My Mini convertible. As my car does not have a roof I always carry to cover in the boot and two Umbrellas for the occupants ! If it starts rainig get out of the car and put the cover on and whatch from under the brolly.

hahah yeh come steal mine :D.. nah mines a crappy one though.. it's only 'partially waterproof' got it from repco.. it's good for keeping leaves off, but not much else.. I was going to get one of the ones off ebay, but now that Minisport hasn't got an ebay shop I'll have to ring them up. If you want to get one aswell, maybe we can save on postage? Or get huge discounts for buying in bulk :shock:
