But keeping drums cool is nigh on impossible. Do you see any real performane cars these days with drums? Didn't think so. Braking is all about heat. Be it keeping more civilised road pads cool, or the right heat for the right pads, or whatever.

Drum brakes work every bit as well as discs, if not better when cold, but once they heat up, forget it. You may as well give up and park it. Once my Dad went straight through the (red) lights at the bottom of Belair road because the drum brakes on our Mustang were simply too hot. :shock:

Exactly!!
This is why i changed to discs.
Adds extra horsepower.

hey, you don't have to sell them to me, i know why discs are better.
I am just considering under certain conditions, it would be possible to outdrive a disc braked mini with a drummed one.

I love these sorts of things, its why i'm driving a mini in the first place.. the only way to win is through superior driving. not superior power.

Yep. Its not about driving fast, just not slowing down for anything. :wink:

Maybe that's a reason i still have my license. All my mates went and bought RX7/ WRX/ GSX-R whatevers, got busted for doing silly speeds, and none of them now have a license. Haha. :lol:
