Just got my new pistons and radiator bracket in the mail (Thanks again Gafmo and Minicranks). The pistons are a ugle grey colour, and have something in the ring sections (ring lands??) Do I need to clean any/all of this before assembly?

Personally, I'd polish them, and send Gafmo's Ring back !

seriously though... bit of polish never hurt a piston....

Are there new, or S/H? Look the latter...
Any carbon in the ring grooves, scrape it all out with a broken ring.

They're supposed to be new, they do look new in places, I'll try and get some good pics.
