i couldnt be bothered ordering in a new 1 1/4 inch carby air filter
so i just cut a bit of foam (normal spongey stuff, like diswashing stuff)
and placed it in there
are there any problems with this?
like decomposition of the foam

yes, decomposition alright...

once it gets a little back draft from the carbi which they normally do, the fuel will eat that away like an ethioian on a burger with the lot (no offence to anyone that may be ethiopian)....

also most filters come with a special oil that is the secret to getting out all the minute impurities in the air that will pass right through a normal paper/foam filter....

if i were u just buy urself one for $5-$15 and sve the sh!t that will stuff you valves and engine up.....should be ok for a day or so but dont recomend it!

Fore sure! It's definately worth $10-$15!. Even the Lynx Ramflo sponges dissintegrate into tiny chunks of foam, so I'd hate to think what would happen to regular foam...
