Two significant events took place on Australian race tracks in 1962. The first was the a change in venue of the Armstrong 500 mile race from Phillip Island Victoria to Mt Panorama Bathurst. The second was the Debut of the Morris Mini at the Mountain.

From the early days running the 850 engine it became clear that the little car with a wheel at each corner was something pretty special. 4 years later everyone who was anyone turned up at Bathurst in a mini Cooper S and the little car totally dominated the event.
