My starter in NAV jammed on Wednesday and wouldn't even allow the motor to spin at all. I just whacked it into reverse and pushed rather violently as i had the s*#t's big time and it popped out an it started fine.
What sort of $$$ is a reco starter going for?

So who's no# 3 with starter dramas this week

NAV, sounds like classic Bendix Gear trouble...

you will probably find the teeth on your Flywheel are all gnarly or the same for the splines on the starter motor....the fact that it started after you disengaged the tangle...points to that....whack in another old starter motor...while you are checking the condition of your ring gear and bendix.
