My old web host went titsup a while back, so I started looking around for some place new today having done some work on the mini.

I really need a host that offers ssh/rsync access to upload my ~30meg of photos. Don't want to do them one at a time in some crappy web form. No one seems to offer working FTP upload any more. Yet to sort this out.

Anyway, ended up at flickr, which I found out you can hook up to a blog. So signed up for one of those too.

So now all I have to do is email a photo to an address at flickr and it shows up as a post on my blog. Nice.

Some progress today. Photos and ramblings are on my blog. Every time I touch the bloody mini lately the job keeps getting bigger. The light at the end of the tunnel is as far away as it has ever been. Hopefully tomorrow I will get some patches welded in, and things will start looking better.

Don't forget, oldest entries are at the bottom, so you may want to read it bottom up.

I may bump this thread as I update the blog.

Why don't you just put this topic in the members mini gallery where it belongs (don't mean to offend) but wouldn't it be the correct place for it.

Irrespective of what Pats thoughts may be, it's kind of a bit of both Members Gallery and information re: flickr......... anyhow i don't really give a s*&t.

Zizzle......... i have said this many members on this site before, i wish i had the ability and the guts to go through with a restoration at some stage in my life....(not that Slidey needs a resto  )

Looking the goods mate, a long road ahead by the looks of Michaelangelo's previous attempts, but will be worth the wait when finished.

Steve

Sorry, as you can see it was nearly 1am when I started this thread, brain wasn't engaged, it was a long day.

I read ausmini via "View posts since last visit" so the different forums mean little to me.

I'll let this topic die out and leave the "Mini Chat" forum in peace.

here here SG... i actually asked Zizzle about web space for keeping a record of restoration progress so as far as im concerned this is very relevant mini chat.. especially as the vehicle in question is a mini, and these days lots of owners are choosing to keep a small site for the benifit of those interested and for those about to tackle the same jobs, to be able to see a photo step by step progress through the job..
I know that zizzle is very computer confident, and if finding places suitable to host such a site is becomming hard to find, then surely informing us is of benefit...
I have seen some seriously out of place topics here b4 and frankly i dont give a crap but its been anoying me all day that this one got picked on (which may prove that small things anoy small minds).....but...
its mini related chat in direct response to a mini owners question, for the benefit of those finding hosting a problem..

I've been bloggin' on blogger for about 5 months. It's fine. Flickr is a cool service (with some interesting nerdy features: folksonomy support :-P).

Zizzle I was thinking about your beast the other day and was gonna off some support if you ever need a 2nd pair of hands. I'm only around the corner anyway.

Dewey, mate, I will have to take you up on that offer when it comes time to take all the paint off. :D

Was yours a mini blog or a personal one? Haven't been holding out on us have you?

Thanks for the support Jeff, yeah bugger the forum Nazi's I say. There are far more Off-Topic threads in mini chat that this one.

Anyway, some progress today on the monster truck. Blog updated.

Question for everyone: are beer purchases typically included in the cost of doing a resto???

I skimped and bought a case of XXXX Gold before Easter because it was on special, but I think it may have been false economy. Mid strengths definately are easier to drink all day though.

My mates swear by XXXX Gold... whenever I rock up there's usually one of them holding the rattle gun in one hand and a tinny in the other. The other is holding up the bar with one arm and hanging onto a tinny in the other.

The scotch only comes out when they've downed tools for the day.
