you can always change the final drive. A 3.7 would be good. Mokes used to have 4.1s with 13 inch wheels.

its not the size of the wheels its the overall gearing that matters. gear ratios, final drive, whell size+tire profile (=overall rolling diameter) are what matters.

i have had plenty of fun with 850,998,1098 engines. i'm yet to own a 1275 but i have driven a moke with one that was absolutely awesome.

the biggest advantage you have is the engine is already there. use it and then you can build a killer 1275 while you are driving the 998. then when your 1275 breaks you have a spare engine to use :wink:
