Maybe in UnZud.. but I doubt you would get a shorty engineered for the road here in NSW now.

There was one in Parramatta NSW, but not registered- Allans Motors used it to push & drag dead Morris Minors around their shop. Note the front (& rear) towbars... quote]

Why Doc?....there is a fella down here (lives NSW) that has already had preliminary discussions with an engineer about building a road registerable shorty. Already underway....two donor shells have been cut.

BTW KiwiMR2 the owner of Iona Mtrs in NP is famous for his yellow shorty...its on his business cards and looks neat.

RTA used to get a bit funny about cutting up cars and joining 'em..
we once turned 2 bent Hillman Imps into a straight one again. Cut thru the A pillars and across the floor.... :P
Maybe it's easier now with engineers and all, instead of the RTA experts..

Yeah they sure did, as quick as you could write em off someone would rebirth em...thats what they were trying to crack down on and of course unsafe Cut n Shuts.

I was talking to a panelbeater friend a while back and had just done a very expensive repair ....doing just that...if its done properly there should be no problem...

Now...as for driving a shorty on the road....hmmmm can you ask me one on sport :!:

The black shorty in Vic belongs to a good mate of mine who lives in Geelong. It is registered and road legal with full engineers certificate. It was actually built in the 80's a couple of owners back. It still has DRUM BRAKES! Even the engineers certificate actually says 1275 engine and drum brakes.

I have driven it. :) It goes like stink and turns on a $2 coin. But with a hot weber fed 1330 just lights up the front tyres and darts all over the road from a full throttle standing start. The previous owner put it through a barb wire fence sideways on a wet road. That's when it changed from red to black, as it needed a full respray.

The current owner is considering swapping in a standard 1275 to tame it down a bit. I wanna take it to Hay one year - I wouldn't need to use the handbrake! :D
