Hello Strangers! It's me nearing the end of my trip  I'm in Singapore for 3 days then back on on Sunday. It's been a religious experience comeing to Europe in more ways that one! So much to tell... but straight to the interesting bits:

I have spotted at Grand Total of 49 minis throughout UK, France and Italy, at least 5 of them i have spotted more than once!. Not bad for a 2 1/2 week trip! that's more than 2 minis a day on average! The most minis in one day was in Italy wih a total of 11!!! that's got to be some sort of record  By far Italy has the most minis around with nearly half of these 49 spotted's in Rome alone! I guess they didn't get the Brit's taking the piss out of them in the Italian Job Movie?

I must say I have spotted more mini variants than I can remember! Anyway here is a few of what I have seen:

Many Mini 1.3i's the most notable of which was a black one with hite bonnet stripes running over the bridge at Big Ben
Several Sportspack Minis
Several Mini Mayfairs but I distinctly remember a Metalic Moroon Mini Mayfair right outside Buckingham Palace
So many Mini Sprites to name them all, but lots of them in Bath and a few in London
Lots of Mini 1000's

Here are the special ones:

A Mini "Oxford" ( :? )
A BRG "British Open Special" that we saw in Nice, then in Monaco on the same day
Italy had heaps, one of note was a Metallic Red Mini "Roland" (tan leather interior, magnolia gauges, very nice indeed)
A "Flame Red" Mini we saw twice in Rome
In rome just outside our hotel parked for several days was a VERY sexy Mk1 Morris 850 with pudding stick and Mk1 hornpush. Felt like popping the bonnet for a perve
Very near Lords Cricket Ground in London i saw a poo brown Leyland Clubman... pretty beatten up...
On top of Michaelangiollo's Piazza in Florence lives 2 Binis and a ... wait for it... clubman nose mini van! The dude must be rich to live up there, glad he has good taste too!
Another nice mini lives on top of Capri Island in Italy. This one was green with white stripes and roof and has a full body kit like Mutant's

And finally my personal favourite:
A VERY good condition sky blue with white roof genuine Leyland Innocenti Mini Cooper! Great condition, original steel wheels, a real Charmer! my first view of a Innocenti mini and I likes! (too bad they are left hand drive  ) This was parked in Rome about 30 metres from our hotel (No Problemmo I got HEAPS of photos!!! 8) I'll upload em when I get home)

As for BINIs... well what can I say! THEY ARE EVERYWHERE! Esp in London. They are as numerous as taxis! Probably more so! for every old mini I saw I must have at LEAST seen 6-7 Binis no joke! They are really everywhere you look. As common as commodores in Australia... So many that I couldn't be bothered to name any.

Anyway the best experience was going to Monaco where it just do happened that it was public access day to the pitts!!! I walked up pit lane!!! Also took pics at all the famous sights like the Hairpin a Mirabeu (sp?) and the tunnel under the casino. We practically walked or rode the bus around the whole track! It was VERY COOL! Lots of Ferraris too... anyway enough from me, wife wants to use email.

Post more when I get home! Ciao! Arrivederci!

You should see a few minis in Singapore too. There is a mini enthusiasts club and a workshop specialising in Minis in the Kalang area (from memory). Not sure if I could find details in time, otherwise they have had a cruise or something on this weekend!
Cheers

Doc, I'll call you on Sunday. The only thing I managed not to get was 2 sets of gears. They only had 1 First Motion and 1 Lay Gear in stock. I got the rest though. It is heavy doc! all up 6kgs which doesn't sound like a lot but after 4 countries and 9000kms it sure is!

Well I am totally pumped up to do Lillee up now  I can't wait to get home to work on her 8)

I will check out this Singapore mob, but I doubt I will have time. I just want to relax as it's been a loooong trip
