There was one in Sydney in teh late 80s or early 90s. Chassis at the rear was custom made to take a standard rear subframe and it had a small aluminium tray.

No pics though. :(

I've thought of doing this myself, but I like well-bodies better than the tonner look so never took it any further.. Might consider it further when I get around to making an off-road Mini :P So check back with me in about 20 years ;)

That car was actually built in Geelong! A mate bought it in a run-down state and later sold it to the guy in QLD. The QLD guy restored it.

LOL I had 3 pics of that red one already, all of them with different wheels, door mirrors etc. Should find out in what order they come, the one with the gold-coloured minilites must me the last one. Got loads of picks of 6wheeler pick-ups and pick-up trucks with extended load beds, but I think you're looking for such conversions ?

Those were just saloons, here you got the ute section:

I forgot about Ken's six-wheeler above (yellow one with truck exhausts and bull bar).

The same mate who used to own the red six wheel ute now owns that one. I forgot about that. And he lives in Geelong! Poeee, PM me off list if you want to have a look at it, and I'll give him a call for you.

how about this one Scott??

Image

you can make out from the pic that this guy has 2 rear subframes butted up against each other front to back. There is a moke in Wagga that has 2 rear subframes back to back.. You'd need a pretty solid pair of chassis rails tieing the back-end to the front subframe I reckon....

I don't like those cut down sedans, the curved back-end looks funny under the straight load bed, but do you see the horrid thing they've done to the front of this one??!! ewww!!

Yer what I invisaged was the thing cut right off at the cab (ie where the cab would finish on a propper Mini pickup) and using a chassis of somesort to bolt the rear subframe on to.

One day when i've got too much money and done everything else i'll build what I imagined!

What about a stepside?? Even a roofless stepside?? Would have to be a roundie for stepside, although for a tray, a clubby would look better (like a HQ 1 tonner).

I can almost see this sorta thing done with a clubby...

My idea was to one day make a clubbie one tonner with a steel step side tray (pyload would be the size of a fish tub but it'd look cool ....) and lakes pipes , sort of looking like a half sized Chev ute . I'll try and find a pic of the style I mean ....

EDIT , imagine this with a clubbie front end on it , and of course half the size .....
