I think I read somewhere on theminiforum.co.uk that these fit lucas 45D dizzys

looking at the photos of that one and the ebay one, I'd say theyre one and the same kit.. ebay one with a slight markup though!

At 6.75 UK (Excluding VAT) and if you include postage to Aus, that's if they were to do it for you, it is a very cheap electronic points replacement. It would probably work out about 30% of the price I paid for the Pertronix for a 45D dizzy, maybe should get another.

Note these are for the 45D distributor, I would check With people that have used these before buying one

I've not seen this brand before, but I ran a Pertronix Ignitor in a 45D for years and it was great. No more points to bounce/get dirty/burn/get out of adjustment, and the old 1310S revved to 8000+ no probs.
Maybe one of our UK members can shed more light on this particular one...

From the Pertronix data sheets

There are two distributor shafts found in 43D4, 45D4, 43D6, and 45D6 distributors. The more common shaft has a longer points cam than the relatively rare shaft with a short cam. The Ignitors in the list above will only work in distributors that have the longer points cam. To determine which you have measure the distance between the top of the distributor shaft and the top edge of the points cam. If it is about .420" you have the long cam and the Ignitors will work properly. If the dimension is about .525" you have the short cam and the Ignitors will not work.

There is also another consideration with a 45D4 and that is that they use two different points sets which means that there are also two different ignition modules.

As long as the britpart ignitor is for the red points replacement, and also for the longer points cam, then it will also work in the 43D4 mini distributor.

"All of the 43D4/45D4 dizzys I've seen here have the red fixed points.
The blue points are the sliding contact ones, I think the same as in my 59D4 A+ dizzy (was in my 81 Moke 1275 motor)".

Note these colours are Lucas colours, other makers eg Bosch have made points for these Lucas dizzys in different colours.

Correction, to "....." above-
I just put my glasses on (doh) and checked, what I thought was a 59D A+ dizzy with sliding points is a 45D with sliding points

So 45d points are standard GL19...but is is the length of the shaft that is the issue?

I figure the length of the cam being .1 of an inch different makes for 2.5mm in the new speak. As there is no contacting parts and no gaps to maintain under any spring tension (apart from the air gap between the rotor and the module) then is it as simple as creating a sheet metal spacer to lift these cheap-as-chips points up?

For seven pounds, I'll risk smashing one up in the name of getting rid of points......

All garage work involves equal measures of enthusiasm, ingenuity and a fair degree of irresponsibility.

A mate had something similar to these and he had it checked out by those 'in the know'
who said the are a good thing but you cannot leave the ignition on for long (20-30 sec)with out the motor running as they burn out very quickly,
might be best to keep a spare in the car or the points as a back up.
