What brand and colour lap/sash seat belts were fitted as standard to the MK II series of cars (i.e. 1969-71 Mini K, Cooper S, etc.)? Were they the Britax one's that came from the UK or was there a local supplier?
Does anyone have a picture of an original set, particularly the buckle?
On a similar note, when did inertia reel belts start getting fitted as standard? I'm assuming it was the Clubman era.

Why only for show use ?? is it because he doesnt produce seatbelts to australian standards or some law like that?

Do both the front ones clip into a single plastic unit the same as the clubby ones??

The Photo Simon K has posted is the correct one for the Mk2, ( there was different decals on the catch after Leyland took over from BMC ) Note the pattern of the seat belt webbing.
As for the Inertia Belts They were only fitted to the late Model Mini From Memory 1977 1978, this as a matter of interest was around the same time that the Big hole disappeared from the front fire wall and the rear seat brace

I am Not Positive, But fairly sure the were made by a company called wybrock ( the spelling may not be correct ) I will look at my records and see what I can Find. As a matter of interest the same belt was used on the Morris 1300 & 1500 OHC

Spelling is Wibroc, if that is who made em.
I had a pair of originals in a `69 MiniMatic, they had the same buckles as Simon's.

Wibroc made mirrors, reflectors and a lot of other automotive aftermarket accessories but their catalogues from that era don't list seat belts. So if they made them it was only for a third party and not themsleves, which seems a bit unlikely. Seat belts would have all sorts of manufacturing requirements for safety so it seems more likely an existing local manufacturer with the correct tooling and testing facilities like Hemco would be better placed to do it.

That link makes a lot of sense. So Wibroc made Britax belts. Repco took over Wibroc.

So sometime later the Kingsgrove Rd factory was taken over by Rainsfords, probably when Repco was split up. It looks like Britax took over the seatbelt business from Rainsford.

It May be I am not sure, As You know I am getting old, I do Know that Rainsfords did make a lot of Zinc based die cast parts for cars like head lamp surrounds etc They were also one of the first companies in Australia to Put a chrome like finish on plastic parts, Like the XP falcon Speedo surround ( this was done using reduced Aluminium in a Vacuome chamber ) I Was involved in the deburring and zinc plating of the safety belt mounts for wibroc during my time as an Electroplater,

So are the buckles the same on the cooper S ones as the GT? i.e. would the S type buckle fit into the clubby/GT slot in the center buckle arrangement?

my car actually has one buckle with a leyland logo, and one with BMC (I hide the leyland one...) - dunno if that one is original, but I'd say GT's might have had the same
