Hoping to detail the engine bay this weekend on the clubman. Is there anything in the engine bay your not allowed to paint by law. And no I dont intend to paint the dizzy cap. Just wondering if anything else i should be wary about.

Cheers
Mark

Also have some engine paint but wont be running engine straight away, does this paint rely on the heat to cure or will it go off after a set period?

Detailing an Engine Bay
My Best peice of advice is Hide as much of the wires as you can
You can use many methods from....extending all wires under the guards or using wire Tube thingme Whatets...Us from Firewall down the fuse box and down the bonnet holder and then to the front. give you 2 Hours

Paint wise what are you intending to paint.. Everything  Except for some thing you may have to read
Show us a Before and photo.
Mention what you want to do! ......Me "I'd Go Bling"..Shiney Stuff 8) and At this stage I'm going Black Engine Bay...with Something differt for the Block / Head / Clutch Cover / Carby..Well some know this  Etc ETc Etc

Make it Neat and the way you Like it

thanks Gafmo

Planning to paint as much as possible, not so much bling, not until after it has been roadworthied, but going with a mainly black theme. Any hints on painting the engine in situ would be handy too. Have to take the head off but otherwise wont be removing jack else besides radiator and carby.

Cheers
Mark

Bugger, went to buy more paint and tools today. Found all the paint i was after at auto one. Poletop fires had the power out they couldnt do anything but cash sales, so cam back local went to super crap, got the tools i need and a vr kit on order. They didnt have half the paint i wanted or in correct colours. Decided to try auto one local. Go figure they dont do late night trading. Ugg just want to work on the thing.

Just my gripe for the day :x

Ugg hopefully I can get the paint and stuff early as i have a free day tomoro

Didn't you tape over the Complaince plate  Jill

Get a load of Good Stuff masking tap..the thick stuff and what ever you don't want painted tape and news paper. If you can degrease everything the day before you'll be able to unrap and rebuild and look how good she looks  8)

What engine do you have...if its a 998 or 1100..I hope you are purchasing a ACL (Brand Name) Vr Kit as the Head gasket are better..you'll be able to see it straight away it has a blue trace

I also have the soundproofing for the firewall and this makes it look really tidy.

The best way to do it is to pull the engine out. Seriously it isn't that hard.

Next time i takle the engine out of that car i will clean up the firewall and repaint it.

Cheers

Aaron

By cleaning it and taking the photo at a different time of day. It's just the before was really sunny, and the after was late afternoon. Less light always makes your car look good!

Cheers
