G'Day Guys and Girls,

Don't have my mini yet (but I'm sure there is one out there that will be mine one day soon).
Picked up a mini world mag about 18 months ago and haven't stopped thinking about them since. I became obsessed with the idea of a VTEC conversion. Alas my wife said 'enough! you have to get rid of the boat and the sprite before you can get another project'. Well the boats gone! and I'm about to advertise the sprite. Got my eye on a front cut B16A, and looking for a suitable Mini. I want something that can be rescued, I understand the attacment people have to the A series (I have David Vizards 'Tuning the A series' for the sprite) instead of ripping the guts out of an already decent car.
Very impressed with the quality of the forum and the number of members out there.
Hope to see you all at an event soon.

Cheers
Mark

Hi I'm Mark,

My Sunday car is a yellow '82 Moke with most of the goodies (MG Metro motor, 1.5 rockers, ported head, rimflo valves, unleaded valve seats, 4-pot alloy callipers & vented discs, A032R super sticky tyres, MX-5 leather seats, 6-point roll cage, adjustable suspension).
I've also got a '64 Mini Matic waiting for a Suzuki G13B heart transplant. This will be a road-registered track-day car so very basic, but hopefully quick enough to scare some of the rice-racers!
In a fit of mini-lust I imported a '99 Rover Cooper, cut in two halves. It had been t-boned.
Also imported a dismantled Mayfair 1275 auto that was supposed to get the '99 Cooper running gear & interior. This was going to be my commuting car but now I catch the train and would prefer to do the Suzi conversion. Anyone in Brisbane want 2 SPi 1275 motors, one manual and the other auto?? How about R134A airconditioners??

Mokesta.

Hiya Mark, sounds like you've got the mini bug bad too :)
There's no cure for it, but there are plenty here who share your affliction.
Welcome :D

Hiya all

I'm Luke from Adelaide, have a 65 Cooper S British Vita Replica, 1310 Weber, race seats etc etc. Also a 99 Audi A6 Quattro Wagon, 99 Proton Satria (wifey's car), 1965 Vespa Super 125 - when i really want to go fast

Had the mini for about 5 years, used to race it - too much money plus other interest evolved but now they've ended so am finishing a well over due project.... but just bought a house so progress may be slow :(

Also used to have a Suzuki Cappuccino (don't ask) big turbo, intercooler etc etc used to drag it now and again, did low 14's i think - from a 3cyl 660cc engine - always fun to beat the meat heads in the 5.7l V8's.

Hello,

My name's Steven.

I'm recently arrived from the UK with my 1990 BRG Mini Cooper RSP currently awaiting customs clearance (ba$tard$ new computer system, Grrrr!!).

My girlfriend is from Glenbrook (Blue Mountains, NSW) and we've been together in the UK for the past few years and decided to come out here to enjoy the sunshine and cheaper petrol!

Up until we left the UK we had 2 minis, we sold my girlfriends automatic 1992 Mayfair which we had driven all round europe last summer (5500 miles (>8000kms) in 4 weeks).

Also had a D Reg Mayfair which had an unfortunate incident with a deer in Scotland last year and ended up on it's roof and beyond repair

Currently driving my girlfriend's Mitsubishi Mirage auto which we inherited from her parents after we arrived , which is a bit dull and soulless but it gets me about so i shouldn't complain.

Now living in Balmain and keen to get driving my mini around. It's just had a new Morspeed engine dropped in and most of the crucial bodywork fixed up but still needs a few rough edges tidied up and maybe a new sunroof.

Keep seeing minis all over the place which cheers me up no end, saw a few with the ausmini stickers which first brought me here a few weeks back. Very frustrating not being able to give a little wave from the Mirage though!

Expect i'll be on here most often asking about best places to get work done or to get parts in the Inner West of Sydney.

Hope to have the car soon and be waving to lots of you Sydney folk soon.

PS noted other thread about waving, in the UK we both wave and flash our lights, is this acceptable here too or is flashing a bad thing (ie anger etc)
