it's sad when people violate a great car like that. especially when it's not just some random criminal who's after a hi-fi and cds so he can get his next fix, but another "enthusiast" who decides they have to have something. the worst part is, next time you're at a mini meet, you'll be looking around and know that someone there is a crook.

Very interesting story and like everyone else, it's a very painful one.
Because some one had under coated the body, it's probably likely a second party ( not the original thieves ) had wanted the shell and was preparing it for transport. Either that or the thieves had no where to store the car, away from sight, so they took the removeable bits and worked on turning a brown car to white. Driving the mini to the dismantling site is safe to the low lifes, because a car isn't stolen until it's reported. You are probably lucky you got something back and don't forget they live local.
A good scam is stripping a car and leaving it where the police will find it. The shell is sold from the impounding yard or by the insurance company for near nothing to the public. The original thieves buy the car legally and put the stripped parts back in. They now are the legal owners.

WOW and I am totally disgusted by this!

I cannot believe that this has happened to you and I am deeply sorry for your pain and loss. If its one thing I cannot stand in this world is thieves.. They are the lowest all of experimental life forms.. I can deal with just about every other crime in this world but it is thieves who get to me the most!

You work and save hard for what you have in this world and then some moron comes along and just basically takes from you because they are either too lazy to work or just don't want anyone else to have something nice.

I truly feel for you and I hope you are able to find out who did this to you and your beloveded Mini. Its just not right! Its totally wrong and immoral.. But I guess in this lovely world in which we live in people with good values are becoming very few and far between.

I once had a similar situation happen to me with my Cooper S. As it was taken from me and taken on a joy ride. I was however lucky to get it back in one piece minus the whole exhaust system from the extractors back. There was also some tapes and other things from inside of the car taken which were not part of the car though. A friend of mine found it parked on the actual beach with another key in it. He then drove it home and gave it to my uncle at the time as I was out looking for it everywhere and when I got home I could not believe it was sitting in the driveway.

Anyway to make a long story short from that day on I always took the rotor out of the distributor so if anyone ever tried to steal it again they would not be able to start it.

Once again I am so sorry that this has happened to you and I hope that they get the criminals responsible for this.

Really sad mate to see this happen to ya, hope ya get some justice out of this whole mess.

the pics show how useless most car thieves are , they'll always pinch the easy stuff like seats and door trims etc, but most mini owners would love a perfect white hoodlining in the original materials that still remains in the car but the dopey pricks arent capable of removing the hoodlining so they give it a miss! unco morons

Only thing worse than normal car thieves are the ones who do this kind of thing and then turn up at a car show bragging about how good their cars are after they've stolen 90% of it.

Im guessing you have emailed all the major mini clubs in oz ?

I put forward that this thread get sticked, along with all other reports of mini thefts (including theft of parts)

They will have to turn up somewhere, hopefully some unsuspecting mini owner wont purchase these parts thinking they are legit.

Someone somewhere will know something, if ausmini keeps a keen eye out then im sure the culprits will b caught.

Catch the offenders and string em up by their balls.

Is there any chance of a full list of parts stolen ?
