Makka it fits 2 ways and both will work. I usually put the `top' at the top though..

Have you checked the head and block for flatness lately?
Should be within .002" or better.

If the spare head fixes it, I'd take the old one to GR, he can get a dyechek done. Good for surface cracks. Cheaper and easier than getting it X-rayed or magnafluxed.
Or, I can do it here.. I just `happen to have' a kit..... 8)

Head was 3 months ago and motor was 18months but it ran fine. I have given it new bearings, and rings, thats it. Oh well, give me a week and we will see where we are at.

Cheers

New theory, If my PCV Valve isn't working correctly(not that there's much to them, but i did pull it apart) could this be casuing too much crank case pressure and hence opening up the crack t allow water? And do i have it attched correctly. Twin SU manifold to PCV to Flywheel housing(1100s block) At his point it is the only breathing the car has. I need to paint up the rocker cover with a breather. Is this too litle and could be making the issue worse?

Cheers

Aaron

Aaron that's all my 1360 has, and it's fine...
Take rocker cap off while running & put your hand over the hole- should be slight vacuum there at idle if working properly.

For those that care, problem solved
Word of warning, do not buy a supercheap Torque wrench......
Car is now running great. it needs a quick run and dizzy filddle to get it in a sweet spot. But it only has the smallest of flat spots. So the grill is in and the bonnet will go on shortly. Once i get my dual temp and oil guage back and in the car, i am gonna be attending as much as i can with the club plate car! :D

Cheers

thats great Aaron!! good to hear, sometimes it is the simple things!!

Speedy the problem was that the bolts holding the head on were not done up to
the correct tension. due to the torque rench from supercheap giving out incorrect
readings (i would assume). they all need the correct amount of pressure on them
inorder to squish the head to the block (with gasket in between) with no leaks

But glad to hear you have it all sorted now :)..
