If you have a 998 with anti pollution gear, remove it all....rubber hoses, metal air injection lines, air pump etc. You WILL need to fit grub screws into the head, to block off the air injection ports. You MAY need to block off one or two vacuum inlets on your carb too.
I got around all this by changing the head, carb, everything in fact, except the engine block. So as far as the 'authorities' are concerned, my engine number matches a car with ADR 27a compliance
