Pete if it works for you thats good it will only look mottled if you dont put the marbles in the pot to keep the metalic particles well mixed, every fault you are stating are the same faults that most home paniters make when they try metalics. it all comes down to a few simple rules they taught us, prep well mix well and don't rush the job and start with light coats and finish with heavier coats

Well, I might post some pics of my roof when I do it as I spent NZ$800 at Total Bodywork Supplies in Wellington here, for 4 litres metallic, clearcoat, etch primer, stripper, rust converter and quite a few other bits. The colour looks ab fab in the can, hopefullly will look lovely when it's on.

I watch all those car programs, like Monster Garage, Rides, Great Biker Build Off, A Car (etc) is Born, American Chopper and so on, and watch intently when they're spraying. I know it's two pack mainly, but interesting to watch their processes.

What tip size should I use for metallic acrylic? I've currently got a 1.4 tip at the mo?

I would suggest a larger tip size, a 2.0 is a good size as long as the particles are not to big, the 1.4 is a good size for non metallic paint

Cheers for all the help guys, looks like im gonna go the non metallic route as i dont want to spend a lot of money on something i could quite possibly stuff up. So I'm thinking (at the moment) to go with a bright yellow body with a white roof. If any ones got pics or opinions on this colour scheme i would love to hear/see them.

Mick :) :) :)
