It's unlikely to be the original, at least not without a rebuild (or 2 or ...) along the way.
Let's see how your luck holds :)

Dont listen to all these pussies about seat brackets and what not...... sitting high is all part of the charm of these cars. When you get too low, the steering column needs to be lowered aswell, and your road vision gets reduced.

Having said that, i'm 6"1' and the base of my seat is (or should I say WAS) almost level with the crossmember, putting my shoulders just level with the bottom of the window. This makes it extrememly hard to see the end of the bonnet, the apex of corners, etc etc.... but makes it easy to see up skirts

Hmmm.... maybe you should disregard my first comment

You'll fit

well, no luck, the guy called me today and it looks as if its been sold, better luck elsewhere i guess. what would you guys reccommend, i mean, coming from a car with a...decent amount of power, would a 1100 be enough? or should i go straight for a 1275 and do a little work on it?

always better starting off with the bigger motor, and doing a little work on it
rather than starting with the smaller motor & doing a lot of work to it. My 2cents

As everyone's said you'll have no trouble with fitting in a mini. I've got more headroom in the mini than I had in my EF Ford and easily more than my BA. If you've got really long legs you can get seat extender brackets to move the seat back (though i don't know if that still applies for Leyland minis) but I find that even with the standard seat brackets I can't reach the pedals if I move the seat back as far as it goes and I'm 6'2".

I've had a few occasions where people tell me in all seriousness about some 'really tall' person they knew who owned a mini and had to take out the front seat and drive from the back seat. When I can be bothered I explain to them just how tall you'd have to be to do that - probably 10 feet... :? at least their story sounds good though - I probably shouldn't spoil it for them...

But we all know roundies usually look better

not usually always :D 8)

My friend is 6"1 and he has no trouble fitting in to my mini so you should be fine. ( the only trouble he has is fitting in the racing harnesses). I paid 3000 for my mini and it has a pretty standard engine but it has a good body and a 12 inch sub and bucket seats. My tip is to look at more than 1 before you commit, but once you drive one the addiction starts and then you will need theropy to drive something else. :D :) :D [/quote]
