The seats that had headrest were still lowback seats just had a headrest added with a single adjustable pole to meet the ADRs which came into law after March 72, my old GT was a March 72 build and had these seats and the 9FXey engine, had 97000 miles when I got it from the original owner and no crank thrust washers left in the engine (2 pumps to get clutch to work, first push moved the crank and the second got the cutch :D ) Cadiz with white interior

Very nice mate.....but the early GT's (like mine) had low back seats. Did this change in Jan 1972? Maybe new ADR's started then?

Yep - as did the fitment of rear seatbelts.

Anton - I'll scan the copy of the 1972 Wheels article I was telling you about (a long term test on the GT) and send it to you. It's great reading.

I'd love to see the other two GT articles from Wheels. I only have the last one.

This is my favourite GT colour.

Fair deal mate. I can scan whatever you have (if you will let me).

Since you are a top bloke, and a clubby man to boot, I would be happy to show you the car. It's not at my house though, but only a few suburbs away. Maybe this weekend if you have time to spare.

Yes you can - John Smidt at Mini Spare Center in Padstowe NSW has/had some. I saw them when I was there a few weeks back. Not sure if he has any left though.

The South-African answer to the Clubman-style 1275GT was known as the Mini GTS

Not sure if it was the same spec as the Aussie GT
