where`s all the club racing mini sh!t gone,,,what`s happened to Willowbank dirt autocross circuit, why is there bugga all minis at Mt Cotton hillclimb & other hillclimbs around the country???

Good question - Most Victorians get a 4-day long weekend for the Melbourne Cup, yet out of 80+ entries at a Super Sprint held on the RAAF base at East Sale last Sunday I was the lone Mini rep. In fact there were only 3 Pommy cars competing, the Brick, a very nicely prepared MG Midget and a V8 MGB. Lots of Geminis and ricers though :x

Hey Cody

yeah getting there mate, well i just had a call from the couriers about the MED parcel, its allready here and will be on my door tomorrow, as far as my dealings with both Avonbar and MED have been pretty good, i have asked many questions from both of them about various parts and i have gotten emails back the next morning and once i placed the order it has only taken 6 days to get the bits to me.

as far as avonbar not as great but not far behind either.

but i have found all the uk people can be a little slow etc in all areas of business.

minispeed have probably been the worst to deal with.

i will surely place many pics on the web for you all to see

Yep, the RAAF Auto Club of East Sale (RACES) run 2 super sprints each year on the base using taxi ways and runways to make up a tricky little circuit that must be about 1.3km in length. The back straight is long enough to reach almost 100mph in a quick Cooper 'S'. The track is marked out with cones, witches' hats and empty plastic barrels - there's plenty of run off areas and the only things that you're likely to hit are the barrels and cones. Each run consists of a standing warm-up lap followed by 3 flying laps, and 5 runs were fitted in during the day.
Entry to the base is restricted to a list entrants and their nominated crew / hangers-on, each of whom must have photo ID to get onto the premises. Everywhere on the base apart from the section of runway allocated for the event is out of bounds and we are lectured at the Drivers' Briefing about minimizing damage to the facility, not running over runway marker lights (an expensive proposition if you do) cleaning up oil spills and rubbish (something about damage to jet engines if injested) and being on our bestest behaviour.
The runways had recently been resealed and were fairly slippery to begin with (as indicated by the photograph), but after a couple of runs it rubbered in nicely.
It's always a fantastic event and great to see a Commonwealth facility being made available to those who helped pay for it.

I think that the Base has become a bit more security conscious over recent years - All visitors names needed to be forwarded with the entry. Visitors were checked off at the gate and rego numbers noted by the officer on duty. There was also a security type with a speed camera making sure we didn't exceed 40kph on the roads in the Base, but nothing too serious.

I must say that was a lovely pirouette you did there Curly, we at the start line gave you a score of 7 for that one and 8 for the first one...

Thanks for the scores Smokie, but the degree of difficulty on the 'Slide & Catch' was quite a bit higher than the 'Pirouette' - Perhaps I should enter one of those 'drift' meetings
