There is no easy answer and a mistake is worth big money. The tyre is the least understood part of car dynamics and Bridgestone blew it in F1 this year because of the lack of knowledge and that's all it was. Horses for courses I am afraid. A 10'' rim will always be marginal in the wet due to the tyre surface speed being very high and the tyre having trouble clearing the water. It is a really big ask for the front tyres on a mini to be as good in the wet as a 19'' rim on a rear wheel drive car. Also keep in mind that a tyre that is too wide will aquaplane very easily. The ideal is to have two sets, one for the road and one for the track, overseas in Europe most people have two sets, one for summer and one for winter.
