I hate to say that I found the people at superlight right pains in the backside to deal with, one of my other loves is my Triumph Dolomite and I am a member of the UK Dolomite club, a lot of the guys in the UK are looking for wheels for there cars and superlight do make a 13 inch with the right 3.75 PCD and the guys asked me to contact the company about a group buy of between 30-45 sets, there response was arrogant to the effect of we don't do deals with car clubs go and see bob jane or someone, minilight UK were more than happy to deal and a lot cheaper than the best price i could get out of here. nice wheels they might be but to me its there attitude that is shite, to big to look after the true car enthusiast so for this reason alone I refuse to have anything to do with there wheels

a month ago I didnt ned to sell eveything (including bits off the car) to get this project finished. Not only that, the car sits so low now I dont think the 12" wheels will fit anymore.

Wheels are going on ebay tonight.

i think the tempe tyres 12" rims are fantastic value for money, they look a hell of a lot better than some daggy 10" wheels. They don't compare to superlites or other expensive wheels, but they're brand new with tyres for half the price.

as a cheap replacement for what most minis have (crap wheels) they're great

the superlites will be around $1200 for a set.

If cash is an issue, go with the Tempe tyres rims. I have them, and think they are decent. I question the offset though.....yes you need stepped drums / discs, but they could still have a bit more outward offset IMHO.

If you CAN afford better, buy better.....but A LOT of us simply can't afford $1000+ for wheels / tyres.

They rims have the steel pressed inserts for the wheel nuts. I don't think the imported ones (tempe) do. Check to make sure

My tempe rims have em... well im pretty sure I do. I havn't had to take the wheels off for a while. I pretty much agree with everyone else here.. get them if if you can't afford better. I still reckon they look great for the cost. But.... opinions are subjective, so just go with what you reckon will suit your car/taste. Cheers

oh yeah... and ask them about some different tyres. The falken jobbies look pretty cool and wear really well but are not great if you want to throw your car around a whole heap...

went to tempe today with my 66 deluxe and had probs with the rear tyres touching the training arm.... they suggested getting longer studs put on(so they could put an 8mm spacer and still tighten nuts) and coming back. Are there any wheels I could get that just go on? ... none of this spacer/longer studs crap?

a lot of wheels have this problem, this is why the cooper S had a wider track with spaced drums etc

Spacers= DODGY. Very not cool.

I think those Tempe wheels have too much offset to the inside. Even with spaced type drums/discs, they are too far under the Leyland flares. they don't fill em out enough.

Personally, i would try finding some Superlights. They are the best replacement wheel for a mini, if you want that style of wheel. Not everybody wants bloody minilites. Including me. But, you don't buy a set of wheels everyday, so make the purchase once, and get the ones you really want.

Do it once, do it proper. Just like everything in life.

Remember the old slogan,

You get what you pay for.

I have superlights and am happy with them.

If you don't mind 10's I think Minisport in Adelaide have some performance minilite wheels with tyres for $699 on ebay at the moment. From memory the tyres are Kumho's but they can be upgraded later to A008's. Not sure if you would need flares or not though.

Well, they are able to be certified in NZ by engineers as long as there is some way of securing the spacer to the drum/hub, and as long as the track isn't widened by more than 25mm. So they can't be too bad. Most Porsches run them and they're a lot higher performance than a very light car like a mini. I mean we're not talking those dodgy 'universal' ones which have stud extenders.

Both my Clubman and 850 run them and I'm happy to do so.

From those pics, the Tempe mags look fine. I'm not keen on Hotwires, Alleycats or jelly beans. Why not have them anodised or powercoated to close to the body colour?
