Hi all,

I have a cheap central locking kit from Dick Smiths. $30 - it took me about 3 hours plus another 3 or so 'adjusting' it afterwards but mine works fine. I have installed it in a clubman so i am not sure if that is better or worst. A fair bit of substitution as far as parts go too. I now no longer use the internal locks and they are wired into their 'open' position. As far as wiring goes i just have two holes in the door and pillar thing where the door open light switch is. It has been sleeved with some heat shrink and shares this passage with my speaker wire as well for my splits.

Hope this helps.

The gorgeous looking antenna they put on the screen just above the dash - Losers

BTW I removed both door locks and cleaned out filled with graphite powder and now central locking is working beautifully

That's how I was looking at doing it. Well something VERY similar but without the bending of the bar and cutting of the door.

Graphite is used as a form of lubricant in the non-liquid variety. I imagine it does not conduct electricity so would be good for electrical components. Correct me if I am wrong.

In door lock no need for electrical (not sure if it conducts electricity or not tho) was just told by installer to put it in the lock - slippery as hell tho great lubricant

Graphite is one of the better conductors actually.

Example 1: Look at the brushes in any electric motor, they are graphite in various levels of hardness.
Example 2: go place a pencil that has been sharpened both ends over your mini's battery, see what the graphite 'lead' does. Wear glasses and gloves for this one. Maybe keep a bucket of water handy.

Graphite is good as it does not attract dust and dirt like a sticky oil would.
