What? the Excel series?

Funny story - apparently (according to RallySport News) the model for the series was first put forward in QLD, but the idea didn't take off. It was run very successfully last year in NSW and I think VIC are starting this year? Anyways I'm sure QLD will catch back up.

Round 3 and 4 are up your way - Hastings Valley Rally Port Macquarie 8/07/2006 and GK Denney Tyres Rally Coffs Harbour 19/08/2006

I really hope to have a car going by the first round (not likely but I CAN dream) in April, but if not I'll just try and catch the latter half of this years comp and go all out next year. I'll see how it goes.

Bob, go & see Parramatta Hyundai, owed by Martin Lintott who rallies a Corolla Sportivo atm, has also had a couple of Evo Lancers & Subaru's, i know him quite well & used to service for him at rallies. I think the Excel series is a fantastic idea, you should have seen the Group A Excels that Hyundai rally sport built back in the 90's, they were absoulute weapons, Mark Thompson still has one i think.

A couple of guys in the Toyosports club are into the excel rallying now and are being given excels on a regular basis. i'll dig up some contacts for you Bob

Went to Parramatta Hyundai yesterday. Didn't ask to speak to the boss - a bit early for that methinks. None of the people there were all that helpful. I tried asking the new and used salesmen if they know anything about the old excels and they just looked at me funny. Went to the service department and pretty much got the same thing.

May try Cumberland Hyundai @ Blacktown when I get a chance as they're one of the dealers that series registered competitors can buy their parts from apparently. They may be a little more sympathetic to my cause :?
