Fellas, the local British Motor Corporation operations at Zetland in Sydney started building round nosed Minis. Then they went through a reorg where they became Leyland Australia hence the "Leyland Mini" (and BLMC). Keep in mind "Leyland" trucks had also built up a reasonable reputation around this time so the Leyland name had some street cred.

P38 we called it then, as it was only 1/2 a car... :lol: :P

Actually the 4.4L V8 wasn't a bad thing, it went OK and had rack & pinion steering which Holden, Ford & Chrysler could only dream about then.. The bonnets never did fit properly though.. :wink:

Alloy wasn't it?

I know a guy who slotted one into a Torana. Was an impressive conversion around 12 years ago.

great boat motor ex's old man hade one in his boat blower and injection thing fuggin flew man i crap the first time i road in it then he taught me the finer points of driveing a inboard with the lil flat bit's at the back to trim up used to do around 150kph it was damn fast scary to when it got choppy water under it :shock:
