On the other hand there is the problem of high heels poking holes through the headlining.....

Barney has a new headlining but you wouldn't know it...
Previous owner trimmed it all real nice, but omitted the sound deadening underlay stuff that is normally stuck in centre of roof.
It drums like a tin can when you shut the doors...

So, kiddies, it's not the headlining that quietens it, but that pad stuck to the roof!

I was wondering about that. I friend at work has spent some time sorting the interior on his morrie truck. The upholstry guy was showing him the sticky stuff that gets used on modern guys - not really a headliner as such like a mini. I have a rather tatty original headliner I could use, or a custom good condition one but it's dark gray

However I was thinking maybe just stick a layer of soundproofing mat up there instead...

lucky stu i have an original mk1 head lining the 2 peice type that just fits in with no hassles, should fit in your easily.

I would reccomend putting it back in so you dont have to try do it once you put your roll cage in or its impossibe.

I told you all this the other day when you come down, short memory or just dont believe me? old age?

We discussed fitment ie. it's easier before the cage goes in. Any monkey can figure that out. I'm talking about the purpose of even having one...read the question 8)

I did read it all, every last letter of it but thought it was a good time to give you some stick about a roof lining.

well the weather is heading your way. not that you would notice working inside all day.how was it yesterday we never had a cloud in the sky 28deg and just about right.

Not an answer, but an option...
I read some months ago about a bloke in the UK who used red/white/blue
wetsuit material to make a union jack headliner in his mini!

A plain one using the stuff would be sweet.

Not sure how you'd go getting it around the curves though , maybe that's why he went the union jack pattern as the joins wouldn't be obvious like they would if it was a solid colour . It'd certainly be good for deadening the noise and not too heavy either .

A wetsuit interior would be handy for aussie.

Have a gander at this link:

I'm seriously considering something similar for cheese when I get to it.Something in yellow, though. Clark rubber has shed-loads of different rubber off-the-roll and some carpet as well.If you decide to glue directly to the ceiling you'll gain a fair amount of headroom, too.
