Er can I put my two cents worth in .
A pulley changes direction of a force. With one pulley the forces are equal one both strands ( belts ) If you add another pulley as in a engine block and tackle, the forces are divided so that it is easier to pull the free length as the load is shared by the strands in the same direction.
What I am thinking is that if a 100 kilo load is on a fixed belt at the upper pillar then by using an inertia belt you still have that 100 kilo pulling on the pilliar belt fitting, but also a force is transferred to the inertia reel attach point. I.E. You haven't increased th force on the pilliar.
Now if like some suggest , that you use the original lower sill mount to attach the enertia reel to as well as the free end of the lap belt then the combined forces could overload this point as you have added an extra force.
The leyland clubbies have an extra plate to attach the enertia reel to , (identical to the original ) behind the verticle sill and I feel this would be the best way to fit these belts.

This is the belt that was in when I brought the mini, these were only bolted through the rear floor. I had to take these out due to being frayed and would not pass rego.

Is this safer?

Would it be better if I also bolted the clubman belts through the rear floor as well as the bolt through the bin?

Also is there anyone around that re-webs seat belts? Given I in Tassie someone down here might know.
