Rather than chucking your air pump just take the belt off that way you gain the extra power, don't have to try and find a air pump if RTA or whatever insists you need one and your engine bay looks original. :wink:

Yes, it's the old air pump setup alright. Very rare to see it all complete these days.

You could probably use the same bracket to fit an air con pump instead.

My daily driver Corona has the same setup and it was still working when purchased! I took the belt off and it broke in my hands - old and perished. I now carry it in the boot so if a smart-arse copper says why is the belt missing I can say - "Look officer, here it is! It broke!" :lol:

thanks for all that guys. If I can choose an answer it is going to be... ummm....Jam_Its answer. Anyway, I am not a boy racer so the extra hp i lose probably wont bother me.

Think I will leave it on for now. Heck, I cant even get to it anyway coz it is still the old girls place 400km's away! Just so eager to start stripping it though, but at least I can get the SS on the road in the next couple weeks without the van distracting me. :lol:
