I personally don't mind the banter and mate-ship that goes on etc.. Alot of it is amusing and entertaining :D

BUT when you post a question in Mini Chat it's because that person needs advice or whatever. I've posted the odd question which left me wondering why I even bothered  Now I just PM a knowledgable person for help or visit elsewhere!

A) whats the point of complaining over fairly trivial matters in a separate post rather than just putting whoever you reckon is in the wrong in their place in the actual post?

Why bag someone having a whinge who obviously cares about the state of the place? I think it is healthy that people care.

I mean I come to this forum mostly for factual information and try not to post irrelevantly (I think my 1000 post count despite being here right from the start is proof enough) but obviously many others don't. Why shouldnt those people be entitled to have this place as a social meeting place (beyound the simple techical forum) if they choose to?

It is wrong to wish there were less stirrers & more Mikes on the forum? :D

Statements like "the young guys (<19 say) are pretty annoying, and sometimes disrespectful. I don't remember being like that when I was that old" (Zizzle) (usualy means that youre getting old and are forgetting staff so can happily claim that back then water was wetter and politicians honest)

Well, I'm probably not as old as you think I am (<30), but I reckon we didn't get away with it as kids because we would get a boot up the arse if we carried on. No hiding behind a keyboard then.

But yeah, I agree that what I said was too harsh. There are kids on here who do listen, and don't pretend they know everything, and don't stink the place up with spam and smart arse remarks. They may even be the majority, but the bad apples get the spotlight.

but also many posts are purely social - should we stop them from posting too?

Was anyone arguing against social posts?
Some of my favourite characters on here are the funny guys who rarely post anything technical (hi gadget :))

If you make a valid point, it's classed as a whinge or a whine.
If you post you have half that agree and half that don't, so you get slammed anyway.
Even a mod has a go, if the point isn't to his liking or the post is in the wrong section. I love the , if you dont like it, eat crap or the F*ck off responses, perfect for a forum to grow.
Why post ? well if you don't the forum dies and access to people like the good Doctor is lost. Luckily another fair, well moderated forum is established.
There are only so many questions about a mini a person can ask, so if someone new comes along, answer it again. He or She is happy because they have been helped. If they get the search answer, they wonder why bother.

Man evolved from the apes, some faster than others.

You are an intelligent man Mike and you make some good points. ( I'll give credit when it's due ) I hope your car is coming along nicely.

Heres my 2 cents worth
I have only been part of this forum since late last year and what I have noticed with all the comments, joking around and seriousness at times is that this forum is a fun place to be, with plenty of different personalities.

The thing to remember is that we all have different personalities and should not take things to heart if someone is taking the piss...
Generally someone taking the piss breaks the ice for conversations to carry on...

Is this post really necessary, maybe the person who has taken offense to comments should lighten up.
I have been part of many forums and discussions groups and this is certaintly one of the best I have been in !

Maybe a vote should be taken to see who is really concerned about the way this forum works...
Tim

Thanks mate just sorting the finals with the insurance but it seems like there's atleast 4 weeks of work ahead of us. The assesor was a real champ though - a totaly unexpectedly positive experience (as much as writing your car off can be a positive experience). :?

i seem to totally miss all these things that go on :P i heard the other day a bunch of the big-wigs bugged out and that ausmini was having issues or something...guess i dont read the right posts :P

personally i get pissed off with the odd person...i do in real life too...but ya just let it pass...get angry for 10mins and go play a spirited game of pool...then come back all relaxed with the anger well vented...no need to get into a flaming match on here :P although i have been involved in one or two in my time, i generally just try to ignore people who say something that gets my goat...

i am sure there are lots out there who get pissed off with me too :) such is life :)
