I recieved a Victoria Red Light Cam offence in the mail today, I was wondering if anyone has ever had anyluck in disputing such a fine.

There was a guy riding behind me that also went through the red light (after me) , And I was wondering if i get the photo would it be worth it, Can they fine with two cars in a photo.

get the photo, if it shows the other guy was sitting on your arse then you can contest it by telling them you were avoiding an accident - if he would have hit you if you'd stopped...

otherwise... you should have stopped

dont really matter to the police they would say you should have pulled up ....
and they would be correct if he hits you it is his fault rearender he was following to close ........ i know it sucks cos you dont wish to be hit the damage to the car the possibility of injury to yourself ...... but the law dont see it that way and there are genrally more than one photo i think there are 2 or 3 ask for the lot ..... this is the only way to prove what you are saying .. the only photo will be the one with your car not the other so you will need the set

Write a stat dec stating that you specifically remember that incident, and that you HAD to go through the red (or orange as it may have been) light so that old mate behind you didn't end up wedged in your arse.

Or, take the fine because you were being a dick and went through a red light, and learn your lesson. People die because of people like you.

Check out this link, and the picture from that page.

Pay the damn fine and stop running red lights. The number of times I've nearly been collected pulling away at a green because some ning nong is too arrogant/stupid/slow to stop on the red really pisses me off. If I'm still alive after getting hit by one of these wankers, they sure won't be....

No offence CLubmn

Sorta reminds me of this 'born again Christian' bloke at work.. The guy is a joke, he honestly belives nothing is ever his fault. He got a speeding fine and took it to court.. He got caught on a train without a ticket and got fined (also taking this to court). He milks the overtime hard aswell.. I mean get a ****** load of yourself.. People like this crap me, I don't think it's ever occured to him that everyone else is right, and he is wrong. Idiot.

I agree with everyone else - Stop running Red's.

But If you must dodge this, get your friend to write a stat dec saying that she was selling the car and someone was taking it for a test drive and you didn't get their licence details.

MrBob: Very smart, well the red had only Elapsed for 0.9sec. so i have doubt it was me and it could have been the guy behind me. Im not one to run reds to often.
Problem is it was at 12.58am a little to late for a test drive maybe?

Pay it and stop at red lights ;) lol

How much is a fine for running a red ? Never knew someone that has been done for that.

I got done back in 2003, 2.6 seconds over the red! (Don't drive while tired, people). Cost me $120 and 3 demerit points!

I don't care so much about the cash, but 3 points! :(

So does ACT

All the way up Ginnanderra Drive past Belconnen every second intersection (or thereabouts) has combined speed/red light cameras - they'll get you one way or another!!

whats the problem with actually paying the fine?
i mean...you lose what? 3 points and $150? something like that...i've been busted for speeding (i was pissed off...it was stupid) but there's not much you can do...in the end disputing it'll just be more hassle than its worth...

i was busted once for going through a red light but that's actually coz there were 2 consecutive intersections...with 2 different sets of lights...i entered the 1st just as it turned amber and it turned red just as i entered the 2nd...there was about a 1 or 2 car distance between the 2 intersections and i really honestly didnt know they were separate intersections...there was no collision and nobody was hurt (thank god) but i still wore the fine coz it was driver negligence (mine) that caused it...

the time i was busted for speeding i was doing 75 (actually i think it was 80) on a friday night at 11pm on a 3lane road without a single car around...there was a speed trap and i got caught...i was in the wrong (even though the speed i was doing was by no means dangerous considering the conditions)...i wore the fine...i now have 1 point :) and drive carefully :P

in the end...its not really worth disputing...if yer gonna drive outside the law...either dont get caught...or pay the fines when you do...

Yeah not a bad one, Was also thinking that i could look in the death section of the paper, and put sombody i dont know down, Maybe a little wrong.

$30 to get the photo.
Well it actually wasnt in my car, But i was driving, so maybe she could do that!

I got a speeding fine ages ago, and wanted to see the photo in hopes of working out who was driving (cos poeee drives my car too.) instead of paying for the photo, i went up and saw the guys who send the letters out, cos thet will show you for free. If you go in there, they automatically extend the due date (which was good because i received the note a week before it was due. so much for giving you a month...) IF they're the same group that does the red light camera violations you should be able to see it without paying.

Yes, you can go to Civic Compliance Victoria in Spencer street and see the photos for free. It only costs you if you want a printout then. I always do that when Sarah or I get a fine.

It's worth doing. One guy here at work got a fine and swore blind he wasn't in that area at the time. When he went down and saw the photo, it wasn't his car! Same make and model, different colour. They got the last digit of the numberplate wrong.
